The Family of God
The Bible describes the local church as the Body of Christ - each with a purpose and gifting, and none more necessary or important than another. The New Testament does not conceive of a "lone ranger Christian," but instead reminds us often that while God saves each of us individually, we are saved into a corporate identity: the church. The Body of Christ, the Family of God.
The most visible time you see this family is on Sunday morning, and - like a normal family - you're not really participating in real, normal family life if you're not regularly part of those worship services. While we do livestream the services, Christ intended each of us to grow as a body.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
- Heb 10:24-25
