This is our biggest event of the summer. We all load up and drive to Glorieta, New Mexico for summer camp. We go “Rec Camp” which is hosted by Student Life (a ministry branch from Lifeway). For information on the camp, location, and more go to studentlife.lifeway.com.

If you are looking for the camp forms to fill out, visit studentlife.lifeway.com, click prep center, then click ‘parents click here’, and enter the special REG ID: “81150” to fill out the required forms for camp.
This summer we are going on our second international mission trip to the Dominican Republic with the missions organization 25 Project. On this mission trip students will get to be summer camp leaders for kids who are at risk and in very impoverished communities. The students get to lead the games, teach the lesson, and grow in relationship to the kids. The mission trip dates are July 22-28 and the cost is $1,850. There are a multitude of fundraising opportunities for the students to pay their way. For more information on this years trip visit 25project.org
Here at City Church, we strongly value serving. Jesus came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). We believe that like Jesus, we are called to serve the community and church that God has placed us in. All throughout the summer students will have a multitude of opportunities to serve (and get NHS/NJHS hours).

Opportunities to serve:

At City Church, we highly encourage adults to participate in a fight club. A fight club is simply a small group of 3-7 people (of the same sex) who meet together on a weekly basis (whenever and wherever is most convenient for their schedules) to spend time studying God’s Word together.

This summer, we are encouraging all students to engage in a fight club. We will have fight clubs for middle school and high school students. Fightclubs are lead by adult leaders or by high schoolers.

While we encourage adults to form fightclubs organically, we understand that students need more help in this area. If your student is interested in joining a fight club, click to Email Caleb and he'll help find a fight club that meets at the right time and place for your student.
Fight Club Fight Nights are an opportunity for fight clubs to grow closer together and for people who aren’t in a fight club to plug into one. You do not have to be in a fight club in order to participate. During these nights students will be placed in groups and will be faced with a cultural hot topic. Students will debate both sides of the issue (and they MUST use Scripture to affirm their position). The point of these nights is to help students use God’s truth to inform their beliefs and to help students think critically and differently.

After the students are done “fighting” we will load up in a bus and go do a fun activity together. Students will need to bring money to participate in this part of the evening.

Fight Club Fight Nights are on June 7th, July 5th, and August 2nd from 6-9pm.
While our normal Wedneday night student groups are paused during the summer, we are going to have 3 massive student rallies throughout the summer. On these nights students will get to worship together with a band, a speaker will be brought in to talk to the students, and afterwards the students can buy food and drinks from different food trucks while they hang out or play spikeball, nine square, or basketball.

Summer Fest will take place at City Church Melissa from 8-10pm on May 24th, June 21st, and July 19th
