City Groups

What are City Groups?

City Groups are geographically-based, mid-sized communities that exist not only for themselves but also for the city. They thrive around three core principles: gospel, community, and mission.

  • Gospel: devoted to Jesus
  • Community: devoted to one another
  • Mission: devoted to the city

Through our devotion to Jesus, and his devotion to us, we want to become connected to one another and a blessing to our city.

How are City Groups Different?

City groups are not Bible studies, devoted to doctrine, or fight clubs, focused on personal discipleship. They aren’t social groups, focused social connection, or evangelistic groups, focused on evangelism. And yet, they contain elements of all of these.

City Groups are communities so focused on the gospel of Jesus that they galvanize authentic community that overflows in mission. They are comprised of diverse personalities, giftings, and ages to enrich and express our identity as of the family of God.

Please find City Group closest to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get connected to a City Group?

Since CGs are geographically based, just pick an open group close to your home and text the leader for more information.

How often and how long do City Groups meet?

Groups gather in homes for approximately 1.5 hours, three times a month. Every fourth week they get out of the living room for social events or service opportunities.

How do City Groups incorporate children?

Every CG makes its own decision on how to incorporate children into their rhythms as a community.

What do City Groups focus on for gospel content?

City Groups use sermon discussion guides to take what the Spirit is saying to our church on Sundays and apply it to our lives.

How are City Groups different from Fight Clubs?

City groups are diverse, geographically based communities that express our identity as the family of God. They practice the “one anothers” of Scripture.

Fight Clubs are smaller groups of friends that focus on our identity as disciples. They focus on repenting of sin, rejoicing in Christ, and reproducing disciples.

How are City Group leaders selected?

Leaders are members in good standing, who have filled out the leader application, and been evaluated.
