Don't miss out on this fun, life-changing weekend!

For any questions, please contact our Student Ministry Team

What is DNOW?

Disciple Now (DNOW) is a weekend retreat where small groups of students, 6th-12th grade, are separated by grade and gender for an intentional time of fellowship and study of God’s Word, led by a young adult leader.

When is DNOW?

DNOW is Friday, January 12- Sunday, January 14. Students will be dropped off at City Church Melissa on Friday evening and will be picked up after our worship service on Sunday morning at Melissa High School. See the schedule below for specific times for drop off and pick up.

Where does my student stay?

Students stay at a Host Home (a background-checked covenant partner or regular attender of City Church Melissa).

Who is with my student through the weekend?

Each group of students will be paired with a leader (a background-checked college or young adult of the same gender) who will lead the students in Bible studies and gospel-centered conversations throughout the weekend. Our host home leaders and Bible study leaders will drive students to and from events throughout the weekend.

What can I expect at drop off?

Students will arrive at City Church Melissa on Friday, January 12. They will bring their belongings with them to the church and find their host home in the parking lot at the top of the hill. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to meet the host home and leader during this time. Students will enter into the church and will ride with host homes and leaders to their houses after the activities conclude at the church.

What does my student need to pack?

Some important items to remember are:

  • Bible

  • Journal

  • Pen

  • Sleeping Bag

  • Pillow

  • Blanket

  • Snacks

  • 2-3 changes of clothes

  • Shoes

  • Jacket

  • Toiletries (including a towel)

Can my student bring their phone?

No. Our goal for the weekend is that students can have an intentional time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study. Phones can easily become distracting and isolating. Students will not be permitted to bring their phones, iPads, or other electronic devices to DNOW. Please ensure your child leaves their electronics at home. If found, they will be taken up and turned into an adult for the remainder of the weekend.

If I need to contact my student during the weekend, how can I?

Parents will be given the phone numbers of the leader, host home and City Church staff phone numbers if they need to communicate with their student for any reason. (Students who need to have their phone for medical purposes will be permitted to do so with prior communication to church staff.)

What if my student needs to miss part of the weekend?

We understand that your student might have other commitments that conflict with DNOW weekend. We want your student to be able to be a part of the weekend and we also want to ensure that our groups throughout the weekend stay as consistent as possible without a lot of coming and going. However, all students are required to attend 3/4ths  of the weekend. If needed your student can miss one of four time slots:

  1. Friday Night

  2. Saturday 9a-4p

  3. Saturday 4p-11p

  4. Sunday Morning
